Of
coral origin, the island is 33km long and 23km wide (more or less the size
of Isola d'Elba). It is the most eastward of all the Caribbean islands.
Its climate is very pleasant as the sun shines for 3000 hours a year but,
in particular, it is the only island of the Caribbean coral reef not subject
to hurricanes.
Barbados is the Caribbean island with the highest standard of living and
it is meant for those who want to relax in "grand style" even
though for today's tourist the accomodation offer is manifold - in addition
to the traditional luxury hotels are exclusive villas, apartments and guest
houses.
